Why Study Theatre and Dance?

Of course, it’s pretty easy to understand why you might study theatre and/or dance if you want to be a performer, dancer, designer, director, choreographer, technician, or stage manager.  The training you will receive will directly impact your employability and make you competitive in the field.  You’ll also gain an understanding of the business and develop the materials (headshots, resumes, portfolios, reels, websites, etc.) necessary to enter the profession.  But theatre and dance training does a lot more than that for a student!  Our graduates are working around the globe in a wide variety of professions.  The skills you learn as a theatre and dance major, things like discipline, creative thinking, collaboration, and communication, translate well into any career.  With this page we are developing a resource of research and articles demonstrating the value of arts training for any field of endeavor.
