Information about Teaching/Learning Development Units in Higher Education
This Web page will include an archive for rtf files listing all known centers for teaching and learning, what I have come to call Teaching/Learning Development Units (TLDUs), and their Web sites (if available) by country and state and institution.
For this dataset I use an inclusive definition of "centers for teaching and learning" to include units that do not have a physical center, hence "Teaching/Learning Development Units."
Here were my criteria: A unit that provides college level instructors (GTAs, adjunct included) with support on pure pedagogical issues (not only a blend of technology and pedagogy. Support could be instructional design or seminars but not simply a bibliography) and is sanctioned in that purpose by the university (could be a committee or an HR department; could be a part of mission statement) and is in the geographical region of the faculty member (could be a system office).
Thanks are extended to the POD Network in Higher Education, the Southern Regional Faculty & Instructional Development Consortium, Hofstra, U Kansas, U Victoria, Harvey Mudd College, and the North American Council for Staff, Program and Organizational Development, who have lists of TLDUs which have been incorporated into this document. Additional TLDUs are obtained by searches of university Web sites, notices on the POD listserv, networking, etc. Thanks also to a number of individuals who helped to correct the data.
I'll update the lists annually but corrections can be sent at any time to email@example.com.
