Earth Days at WKU 2015

Earth Day is being celebrated in all kinds of ways on the Hill this year.

Below is a list of activities and events being planned for April 2015. Details and events will be added as plans develop!



April 17th and 18th

Pathways to Sustainability Festival

Featuring a variety of lectures and workshops focused on sustainability and resilience. 

Hosted by Slow Food Bowling Green, the WKU Office of Sustainability, WKU Diversity and Community Studies, the Baker Arboretum, and Corsair Distillery

Friday April 17th, 10am-4pm, Downing Student Union Room 3020

Lunch 11:30-1 in Fresh Food Company Cupola Room - World Cafe Model roundtable discussion: Responding to the Anthropocene: Moving from Sustainability to Resilience. 

6 – 9pm Keynote Speaker Bernie Ellis music by Dead Broke Barons and tours and tasting at Corsair Distillery, Downtown Bowling Green

April 18th, 9am to dusk  -gardening and workshops at the Baker Arboretum - Guinn Entrance

April 20th

Sustainability Research Symposium

Monday, April 20th, 7pm WKU Students and Faculty will share sustainability research happening at WKU.
Hosted by the WKU Ecology Club, Architecture and Manufacturing Sciences, Mechanical Engineering Club, Electrical Engineering Club

Night Class in Downing Student Union


April 22nd

WKU Recycling e-scrap collection.

8am -2pm. All household electronics accepted (no appliance please). Open to the community.

Community Recycling area behind the Service/Supply building at Russellville Road and University Blvd.


April 22nd

Garden Party, Hugel Raising, and Picnic 


Hosted by the Office of Sustainability Project Grow Fellows and Student Government Association.

Get to know the Fellows, your SGA, and your community garden. We will be building a HUGEL!
Bring your green thumb, appetite, and your favorite local food dish to share if you please.
