Providing graduating seniors an opportunity to audition before, and learn from, a panel of nationally prominent agents, managers and casting directors in New York City.


About the Program

This is a one credit hour practicum in the application of audition technique. Students will participate in a New York Showcase for agents, managers, and casting directors.


Learning Outcomes

  • Create and perform an audition package of songs and/or monologues and/or scenes.
  • Create professional materials such a s a headshot, resume, and audition book.
  • Learn appropriate professional behavior at an audition.
  • Gain insight from industry professionals as they respond to your audition.
  • Experience the world of a professional New York actor.

The Program Leaders may determine other eligibility requirements, but at a minimum, all applicants need to meet these requirements: 

  • Prerequisite: THEA 451: Performing Arts Career Lab, or permission of instructor
  • Current WKU student eligible to register for WKU courses.
  • Good academic standing (Undergraduate Catalog p.27; Graduate Catalog p.30)
  • 18 years of age or older at time of departure (parent/guardian permission for anyone under 18 at time of departure).
  • No current disciplinary sanctions as verified by Judicial Affairs.
  • Full payment prior to departure.
  • Completion of all pre-departure orientations.
  • Complete Study Away application

Program Package

Included in Base Package

  • Undergraduate tuition for 1 credit hours ($330 value)
  • Airport transfer from NYC airport to lodging
  • 7 Day Metro Card in New York City
  • Round-trip flight between Nashville and New York City
  • Rehearsal and Studio costs

Excluded from Base Package

  • Accommodations while in New York
  • Return airport transfer in New York


This program runs in conjunction with the New York City Theatre and Broadway program. Students have the option to participate in both programs simultaneously.

Included in Extension Package

  • Undergraduate tuition for 4 credit hours ($1,420 value)
  • Seven-night of accommodations in New York City
  • Ticket for eight Broadway/Off Broadway shows
  • Airport transfer in New York City
  • 7 Day Metro Card in New York City
  • Admission to Museum of Modern Art
  • Round-trip flight between Nashville and New York City

Excluded from Both Base and Extension Packages

  • Items not explicitly listed in package.
  • Transportation between your departure airport and your home.
  • Independent travel (non-program travel).
  • Personal expenses such as laundry, phone service, and Internet access.
  • Tips for guides and drivers not included in program-related activity.
  • Travel cancellation/interruption insurance. Recommended.
  • Meals & Services and beverages not mentioned in the program
  • Baggage fees and costs associated with flight / program changes

Final program fee subject to change due to travel arrangements.


Logistical Considerations

  • This program also includes an on campus component, including a meeting at the end of Fall Semester, 2013.
  • Participants are allowed to navigate New York City without immediate supervision of program leaders.
  • The highest levels of professionalism are required for all participants.
