Education and Career:

I earned my M.A. from the University of Tennessee- Knoxville in 2016. There I studied sociology and criminology, working specifically on social settings that are low in interpersonal crime. My thesis focused on Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee as a contemporary example of a peaceable provisional community. I used a cultural criminological framework to understand the aesthetics of peaceful living and resistance that occurs on the festival grounds. The University of Tennessee allowed me to become a broadly trained sociologist; I explored the subfields of social justice, environmental sociology, critical criminology, community sociology, theories of law and society, and general social theory.
