Dylen Norman, Ed Bohlander Scholarship Award Winner

normanCongratulations Dylen Norman, the first to win the Ed Bohlander Scholarship Award.

Dylen Norman is a sophomore from Nashville, Tennessee.  He is studying criminology, with a minor in  psychology. Thus far, the most impactful thing about criminology is speaking to professionals who currently work in the field.  The Sociology & Criminology department are fortunate to have several adjunct faculty who are current practitioners in the field (Deputy Chief of Operations at BGPD, Penny Bowles, Federal Probation Officer, Tammy Steelman, & Staff Attorney for Hon. Kenneth Harold Goff, II in Leitchfield, KY Katie Embry, Paralegal for WKU's General Counsel Lauren Ossello).  In addition, a number of the courses invite guest speakers to visit class and further elaborate the occupations specific to course material.  Finally, the department sponsors a Career Connections Series, hosting three events per semester which provide connection between Criminology & Sociology course work and their application in "real world" careers.  While Dylen isn't currently in any activities or clubs, he plans on being more active on campus in the fall.
