Product Engineer, Electronics Software/Firmware


The Product Engineer, Electronics Software/Firmware will be primarily responsible for the design and development of new embedded electronics devices that will drive innovative controls and control systems in consumer appliances.  As an integral member of the Cooking Electronics Team located in Springfield Tennessee, the successful candidate will provide the technical leadership and expertise in software development from conceptualization through production. 

Key Operational Responsibilities: 

  1. Independently designs software/firmware for electronic controls and control systems having significant technical content.
  2. Develops software specifications based off of a variety of requirement inputs including consumer, marketing and industrial design, and product specification.
  3. Leads and participates in all stages of the embedded software development cycle, like software design, coding, debugging, verification, validation, etc.
  4. Performs software design review and code review.
  5. Performs static code analysis, white-box testing, gray-box testing and involved in preparation and execution of firmware verification and validation testing.
  6. Develops PC based user interface software allowing engineers to configure, debug, and diagnose the embedded boards.
  7. Develops detailed engineering documentation including software design document, specifications, manuals and other customer documentation, development and test procedures, Engineering Change Notices and manufacturing procedures.
  8. Exhibits appropriate professional behavior including positive attitude, sense of urgency, independent judgment, teamwork, creative thinking and personal integrity to achieve department/corporate goals and objectives.

Competencies needed:  

  1. B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  2. Proven experience in developing embedded firmware, preferably in a consumer appliance product R&D environment is a plus.
  3. Design/programming experience in C firmware for embedded system.
  4. Must be proficient with one of Renesas, Freescale, or ST controllers, and familiar with development environment/tools. Experience with IAR is a plus. 
  5. Must be capable to test/debug the firmware with oscilloscope, debuggers, emulators.
  6. Willing to follow team’s direction on software architecture and other software development processes. Ability to improve processes is a plus.
  7. Knowledge and experience with white-box testing, static code analysis, and IEC/UL60730 safety class B software are desired.
  8. Experience with software configuration management is a plus. MKS is desired.
  9. Experience with capacitive touch technology is a plus.
  10. Knowledge and experience with hardware design is a plus.
  11. Ability to adapt to a very fast paced, loosely structured organization.

Manufacturing Engineering Manager, North Alabama

Our automotive client is looking to add a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to their team in the Florence, AL area. This Manager will operate the manufacturing engineering function; administering technical support to other engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish support of new product launches by the manufacturing engineering department.
  • Manage the on-time input of the BOM/routings, making sure that production rates and machine cycle times are available for input for all new products.

Currently, Vector is looking for a well-rounded individual with communication skills and good work ethic, who is interested in an entry level engineering position to observe and perform testing on soils, reinforced concrete, masonry, steel, and asphalt. Engineers are responsible for reading construction drawings and specifications, performing materials testing, recording test results and observations, communicating findings to contractors and Vector, and generating daily field reports in Microsoft Word and Excel.   • UAV Professional Services. This will encompass many forms of data management and other services provided to the client such as: Aerial topography, aerial photo, aerial videos, infrared imaging, site quantities, project status data and real time monitoring.
  • As the management of jobsite data is ever evolving, so will the scope of this position. New activities may be added as opportunities arise.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent, some college coursework preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in 3D data management in a machine control application.
  • UAV pilots license active and in good standing is preferred. If not currently licensed, must obtain license within 3 months of taking the position.

Operations Management Trainee, Mouser Cabinet

GENERAL SUMMARY: Entry level management position tasked to learn the daily requirements of production and all operations departments on a pre-determined rotating training schedule.  Learn the Mouser product platforms and construction techniques, as well as the process of converting dealer/customer orders to production schedules and finished products per Mouser quality standards.  Assist with the preparation of written job instructions, procedure documentation, and audit current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in all departments.  Interact with the production teams daily and assist with continuous improvement projects, as well as learn operations of each non-production department and assist where needed.


 Assist in the timely and accurate processing of orders through Order Services processes.

  1. Verify and correct (as needed) all daily prepared paperwork by addressing root causes.
  2. Work with all production and operational departments in determining best methods to accomplish desired results.
  3. Research, analyze, and communicate to management cabinet industry trends and information.
  4. Provides input and assistance to associates as requested, to complete their work accurately.
  5. Help ensure daily work schedules are met.
  6. Audit Work instructions and SOPs for accuracy.
  7. Assist with monitoring formats of written correspondence to adhere to consistency within Company standards.

Position Reports to: Engineering Manager

Job Purpose Summary: Design new product line, manage research and development, and work with engineering team to develop final product for production.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Creates new mechanical designs for conveyor systems using both SolidWorks 3D and AutoCAD
  • Create layout drawings of conveyor systems and automated equipment for manufacturing and quotation. Utilizes AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create 3D models and assembly instructions.
  • Convert concept designs into working prototypes or production equipment
  • Design simple and complex equipment based on current manufacturing world needs
  • Create material list required for equipment. Interface with company MES system to input material requirements, BOM’s, etc.
  • Inspect & Oversee construction and manufacture of components and systems with emphasis on aesthetics, form and function
  • Manage project schedule through various phases of engineering, purchasing, production and installation
  • Manage manpower requirements on projects to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget

Management Trainee Program, Carpenter Company

        The management trainee program is designed to train individuals to run our plants.  The trainee will initially go through a 2 week orientation throughout the entire plant for manufacturing acclamation purposes.  The next phase involves training at supervisory level in each of our 7 departments.  The    trainee will concentrate on learning equipment and processes while developing people skills, this process typically takes 2-3 months within each department.  During the last 2 weeks of your time in a specific department, the department manager is removed from the area and the trainee runs the   department.  Once the process is completed in all departments, the trainee should be ready to advance to an Assistant Plant Manager position.

         The trainee will also be expected to complete 24 modules in our Carpenter College - this is an online program designed to help the individual understand each department, the processes and our business.  This individual must also be willing to travel and/or relocate if necessary (and is most often very  likely).

         Management Trainees have their salaries reviewed every 6 months for the first 24 months.

Engineer Student (part-time) Chuhatsu, North America

Chuhatsu, NA is a cable and spring manufacturing company that produces Tier 1 and Tier 2 products for Japanese automakers.

Looking for an Engineer to interrupt blueprints and assist in the design of jigs, fixtures, and dies needed to manufacture the final product. The system we use at Chuhatsu is Autocad but we are open to the engineer bringing his own laptop so they are able to work with any program they are comfortable with using.  We are flexible with their work schedule but they would need to work between the hours of 7:00 am till 6:00 pm.   The wage would be $20.00 per hour.   The initial length of the assignment would be from now until the end of the school year but it could lead to a longer or possibly a permeant position.
