A strong background in science is vital for all health careers. To help students master these topics, AHEC is encouraging educators to create before or after school health science clubs for their middle and high school students. These clubs allow teachers to focus on activities that they do not have time for during class. Instruction may include, but is not limited to: CPR, first aid, animal dissection, math skills, field trips, guest presentations, community service, and more!!
AHEC provides the funding, supplies, and will help create/implement any activities, but we DO NOT run the club. That is left to the educator at the school.
Grade Level: The club is intended for middle school and high school students.
Instruction Content: The club's lesson plans are left to the educator and can be tailored to meet the needs of the students and instructor. The material, however, must introduce students to health careers. All material must be approved by AHEC.
Time Frame: Clubs are encouraged to meet for a total of 20 hours.
Stipend: Upon creating, implementing, and completing a 20 hour program, the educator will receive a stipend.
