  1. Assistant Professor in Environmental and Occupational Health Science

 The Department of Public Health at Western Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health Science for Fall 2021. Primary responsibilities include teaching and research, as well as service to WKU, the community, and profession. Ability to teach in two or more of the following subject areas is required: Environmental Health, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, and Environmental Science.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching and engaging students in community-based research in the field of occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or environmental health. The successful applicant is expected to develop a community-based, collaborative research agenda that engages students within the field of EOHS, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in EOHS, and participate in department, college, university, and community service.

Job Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in Environmental and Occupational Health Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, or Environmental Science with a research emphasis in occupational safety and health, or a closely related
  • Candidates must be qualified to teach graduate courses in two or more of the following subject areas: Environmental Health, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, and Environmental Science.
  • Candidates must have prior experience conducting community-based environmental health or occupational safety and health research that will engage students in the EOHS field.
  • Candidates must have a well-articulated research agenda in the field of occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene or environmental health.

  1. Assistant Professor – Health Care Administration

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities of this position include undergraduate and graduate instruction in the areas of healthcare administrations well as a strong commitment to scholarly research and extramural funding.
  • The successful candidate will work with program faculty to operate, evaluate, and continue to develop the healthcare administration program to its maximum potential. Courses may be on campus, off campus, or online. Interest in the development of distance learning/on-line courses is strongly encouraged.
  • Additional duties include, but are not limited to, professional service, student advisement and participation in collaborative activities. We are seeking candidates interested in working with us to educate our students to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse, multicultural, and technology-driven society. This position will be filled with a professional who has the potential and desire for engaging in professional collaboration with others at the university, national, and international levels. Candidates should well-informed of current research trends and topics in healthcare administration.
  • Tenure eligible candidate will develop a collaborative research agenda focused within the field of healthcare administration

Job Requirements

  • A terminal degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Services Research, Health Informatics, or related fields.
  • Articulate a well-defined research agenda in the areas mentioned above with the potential for extramural funding.
  • Have experience teaching in higher education (added advantage).
  • Possess strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with potential for interdisciplinary engagements.
  • ABD candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities include teaching diverse graduate and undergraduate public health courses; conducting and disseminating original research; engaging in program, university, professional, and community service; and, advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. We seek candidates qualified to competency-based courses, especially those related to planning, policy, leadership, and/or evidence-based approaches.  The ideal candidate has prior teaching and/or experience working in public health practice.

Job Requirements

  • Candidates must hold an earned PhD/DrPH, or be ABD, in a public health or related field.
  • Candidates must hold at least one graduate degree from a CEPH-accredited school or program of public health.
  • Candidates must demonstrate competence in classroom and online instruction.
