It is the position of the University Police Department that among the violations of misconduct considered to be of an especially serious nature are those that represent a threat to the safety and health of  members of the University Community. These include but are not limited too, harassment, physical violence or threat of violence, non-consensual sexual contact, rape or any form of sexual violence.             

University Police Academy

The Western Kentucky University Police Department University Police Academy is a six-week educational program developed to inform the Western Kentucky University students, faculty, and staff about the duties, policy and procedures of the Western Kentucky University Police. The six-week academy is scheduled to begin in the Spring. The selection panel is limiting the class to twenty participants. The sessions are held on Thursdays from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Practical exercises will include students conducting traffic stops, firing range qualification (handgun & shotgun), DUI & Field Sobriety Testing, fingerprinting, and interviewing suspects. Notification to participants will be notified by e-mail.
