Public Relations students at Western Kentucky University (WKU) have partnered with Good Deeds, a local nonprofit dedicated to providing essential support to the Bowling Green and Warren County communities. This collaboration aims to raise awareness of Good Deeds’ mission, particularly its outreach to veterans, while also increasing donations to sustain and expand its services.
Good Deeds, known for its heartfelt commitment to “Do Good Deeds for Others,” addresses food insecurity, housing needs, and furniture provision, with a special focus on veteran support. This partnership leverages the creativity and enthusiasm of WKU students to amplify the nonprofit’s impact, reaching more individuals and families in need.
“This partnership with WKU students is an exciting opportunity to raise awareness of our mission and make a greater impact in our community,” said Mary Osborne, Director of Good Deeds. “Their enthusiasm and innovative ideas will help us reach more people and share stories of how we are changing lives.”
As part of WKU’s senior capstone project, PR students will gain hands-on experience by running a strategic campaign throughout the spring semester. The campaign will feature community events, digital outreach, and storytelling initiatives that highlight the transformative work of Good Deeds.
The campaign’s main event will be a benefit night at BGSkate on March 4, 2025. Bowling Green residents are invited to enjoy a fun night of skating while supporting a great cause—a portion of all proceeds from attendees who mention Good Deeds at the door will be donated to the nonprofit. This is a great way for the community to come together, have fun, and make a tangible difference.
Community members can get involved by attending the fundraiser, spreading awareness, or making donations. To learn more about Good Deeds’ initiatives and how you can help, visit gooddeedsky.org or follow @_thegooddeeds on Instagram and Good Deeds KY on Facebook.
