This show is judged by two regional arts professionals and brings together the best the department has to offer in the areas of painting, drawing, graphic design, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, weaving and new media.

The purpose of the workshops is to give students the opportunity to ask faculty members and graduate students questions about their current and future research projects.  The workshops will also provide examples of how to develop research questions, understand theory and collect evidence.

The author of four published novels, including In Days of Awe (Alfred A. Knopf) and Child of my Right Hand (Sourcebooks).   His fifth novel, Twelfth and Race, will be published in March 2012.  Goodman also published ore than 150 essays and articles, with work appearing in the Los Angeles Times Sunday Magazine, GQ, Travel & Leisure, Saveur, and several anthologies. He is a principal lyricist for the Kevin Kane Band.  For the past decade, Goodman has directed the undergraduate and graduate creative writing program at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

The 2012 Kentucky Mark of Excellence High School Competition Awards Ceremony will be March 23, 2012.  The competition rewards the outstanding efforts of high school journalists throughout the state and is sponsored by the Western Kentucky University Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Ky. High School Media Institue.

A component of the 21st Century Media Program of Distinction at Western Kentucky University, the Kentucky High School Media Institute is funded by Kentucky's Council on Post-Secondary Education Regional Excellence Trust Fund. The Institute's primary goal is to support and supplement scholastic journalism endeavors in Kentucky.
