OWL at WKU

The Online Writing Lab is an extension of the Writing Center, housed in the English Department at WKU. Services are available to both graduate and undergraduate students.

The Online Writing Lab provides distance learners with access to the following:

• a collection of resources on topics ranging from brainstorming ideas and writing thesis statements to identifying reputable sources and how to properly cite them
• streamlined access to WKU Libraries' style guides and research tutorials
• live and recorded feedback from trained tutors - they will talk with you about your writing and help you do the following:
  • Brainstorm ideas
  • Clarify main points
  • Strengthen logic and support
  • Integrate sources and credit them properly
  • Organize your paper
  • Fine-tune sentence style and more!

Getting Started

Access Resources: Access our growing collection of resources at wku.edu/owl

Request Feedback from Trained Tutors:  

• Submit your paper online. When students choose this option, the paper along with assignment information must be submitted and feedback will be provided by email. Each email will contain the marked-up paper with a link to a video for additional explanation. To upload your paper, visit distancelearning.wku.edu/writingcenter/.
• Live one-on-one assistance through Adobe Connect Pro is also available. This option requires an appointment, which you can make by clicking here. For additional information email the Writing Center at writingcenter@wku.edu or call 270-745-5173 or 745-5719.
• Those near the Bowling Green or Glasgow Campuses may also visit in-person.
