Overview

One essential piece in preparing for graduate school is getting ready for the entrance exam. Most standardized exams for grad school are designed to identify potential success, rather than test your knowledge base in a particular area of study. The questions are designed to quantify your thinking skills, ability to analyze information, measure your reading comprehension, writing ability, vocabulary and quantitative skills.

Regardless of the type of exam you’re preparing to take, the most important thing you can do is practice! We’ve gathered some information and resources that will help you better prepare. The test menu on your right will connect you with practice exams, types of questions and exam registration information for the GRE, GMAT, LSAT and MCAT.

WKU Guidelines for Admission

  • Not all grad programs at WKU require an entrance exam for admission; those that do usually require the Graduate Records Exam (GRE). WKU graduate certificates never require entrance exams. However, endorsements for teacher education do require initial teacher certification.
  • The Master's of Business Administration requires the GMAT.
  • WKU uses a formula to calculate a GAP score.

This allows the university to consider your undergraduate GPA and GRE or GMAT score during the admission process. For additional information on the GAP score, please refer to the Graduate School’s web page on Interpreting GAP scores.

If you are uncertain whether your program requires an entrance exam, please check with The Graduate School at WKU by emailing graduate.school@wku.edu or calling 270-745-2446. WKU Online is also happy to help you through the process. We can be reached at online.success@wku.edu or at 270-745-3028.
