Orientation for Online Learners
In order to take an online course, you must first be admitted to the university. Students can apply online at www.wku.edu/admissions. Additional materials are required. Please refer to the information below.
If you have not attended a college or university after high school graduation you will apply as a beginning freshman.
An official high school transcript (no faxed transcripts accepted) and ACT or SAT scores. Note: Students over 21 years of age may take the ACCUPLACER in lieu of the ACT exam. For more information or to schedule the ACCUPLACER exam call (270) 780-2550.
A readmit student is a student who previously attended Western Kentucky University and has not attended for two or more semesters and now wishes to return. Students meeting this criteria must apply for readmission to WKU.
You will apply as a transfer student if you have attended one or more colleges or universities since high school graduation, but have not attended WKU.
An official transcript from each college attended (No faxed transcripts are accepted. Transcripts without the official seal or those marked unofficial cannot be used). If you have fewer than 24 semester hours of college credit earned, you must also submit your high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores.
Students seeking a degree from another college and wish to attend WKU for one term only should apply as visiting.
A letter of good standing from your home school (the school from which you are seeking your degree) or a transient permission form is required. The letter of good standing can be obtained from the Registrar's Office at your home school, and must be submitted to the WKU Admissions Office.
If you are applying to a masters or graduate certificate program, you must submit an online application and your official undergraduate transcripts. Certain master's degrees also require GRE or GMAT scores, and may have additional program specific requirements, such as a letter of intent. Please review the required materials for your specific program of study. The application and all supporting materials must be received by The Graduate School before your application will be considered. Learn more at www.wku.edu/graduate.
On Demand Students
WKU On Demand offers self-paced courses delivered via email, print, or web. Admission to the University is not required for those taking undergraduate classes. However, prior to registering for a graduate level course, you must be officially admitted to graduate school.
