WKU will celebrate International Education Week 2019 from Nov 11-15.
International Education Week (IEW), a joint initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education, provides an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Through IEW, WKU aims to provide events and programs that encourage the WKU community to experience diverse cultures, engage in intercultural dialogue, and learn about internationalization resources and opportunities.
In addition to co-curricular events, faculty are also hosting Dialogue Series sessions throughout the week. The Dialogue Series consists of classroom-based activities, projects, and conversations intended to foster international dialogue, spark students’ interest and curiosity in cross-cultural issues, and provide opportunities to learn about global communities.
Co-curricular events include:
- storySLAM: Home (Nov 9, 5-7pm, Spencer's Coffee). Students will share five minute-stories about a time they found "home" while studying abroad. Sponsored by Study Abroad and Global Learning.
- Beyond Borders: Pursuing Interantional Careers (Nov 11, 7-8pm, HCIC 2017). A panel of current students and alumni will discuss academic/career pathways towards international work. Sponsored by the Office of Scholar Development.
- Oman National Day (Nov 15, 5:30pm, HCIC 1011). An event featuring traditional food, dances, and an Omani fashion show. Sponsored by the Omani Student Association.
