International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to recognize the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.

Western Kentucky University, led by the Office of International Programs (OIP), will be participating in IEW, held November 11-15, 2013

What we are hoping to see for the IEW 2013:

  • A robust calendar of events boasting involvement from across the WKU campus and extended campuses and Bowling Green community;
  • A range of events and activities that create opportunities for international understanding through meaningful engagement and dialogue.

Getting Involved

Who may participate?

IEW is open to everyone: students, student groups, faculty, departments, staff, non-academic units, community members and groups, etc.

Events to consider:

  • Lectures
  • Workshops
  • Musical/Dance performances
  • Film screenings
  • International cuisine tastings
  • Art exhibits
  • Discussion panels

Support Funding

Interested in planning an event for IEW 2013?

OIP has dedicated approximately $10,000 in funding (1:1 matching required) for the IEW Grant for the purpose of supporting programs and events that meet the IEW objectives. IEW contributors (i.e., individuals or groups organizing events/programming during IEW) may apply for IEW matching funding here. Featured Global Programs (FGP)

OIP would like to use IEW to spotlight ongoing programs and endeavors that are actively engaging WKU students, faculty, staff and/or community members with global perspectives. If you would like your program featured on OIP's website during IEW 2013, please complete and submit this form to with FGP in the subject heading.
