NSE Experience at Oklahoma State University
After a study abroad experience at Harlaxton College in England, I realized how little I knew about my own beloved country. So, I decided explore America. When I heard about the National Student Exchange, I knew I found my opportunity.
My destination... Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
You see, I was born here in Stillwater. This is where it all began for me (as Jason
Bourne would say!), and this is where I have wanted to study my major of architecture
for my entire life. But, when the choice came around for my college career, Western
Kentucky University was where my heart led me. However, I am not the type of girl
to give up a dream. And now, I am here, living my dream through the wonderful opportunity
that WKU generously offers.
The community at Oklahoma State University is everything that I have imagined it would
be. Everyone is welcoming and kind, but above all, incredibly curious about the experience
that I am embarking upon. The sporting events are priceless experiences and the classrooms
bring
much of the same insight that WKU has accustomed me to. And yet,
one of the amazing things about OSU is the School of Architecture. I may have originally
come here for personal reasons, but that is not where my reason ended. Professionally,
I desire to go to graduate school and become a successful, accredited architect. And
as you can tell, I am the kind of girl that will do absolutely anything to make this
happen. Coming to OSU has helped this journey immensely. Now, as I experience architecture
from an accredited and nationally recognized program, I have a vast knowledge of what
architectural design is and can be. I have seen the technical side of architecture
that WKU has taught me; I have seen the world of architecture of Western Europe through
the Study Abroad experience; and now I have seen the design perspective of architecture
from a fabulous accredited school. To me, now I am the triple threat!
And finally, this experience has been rewarding and full of so many blessings (in only one month!), but I know now that I made the right decision in the beginning. I love OSU, but Western Kentucky University has given me everything. WKU is home. It is home to the Study Abroad and Study Away programs that have truly let me reach for the stars, and it is home in the beautiful state of Kentucky where my family and heart is.
