I think it is safe to say that choosing a college is one of the most stressful things facing a young adult. Deciding where you want to spend the next four years of your life to get an education that will affect your future can be very intimidating, and that’s exactly why I chose Western Kentucky University to be my home away from home. The welcoming environment, numerous educational opportunities, and international reach of the university were just a few of the reasons I decided to choose WKU.
As an Arabic and International Affairs double major, WKU was the perfect fit for me because of the excellent Modern Languages department. The small class sizes have really been a key to my success, as have the professors that are always willing to meet with me outside of class to discuss not only class related questions but also to talk about job opportunities pertaining to my major. The university really cares about the students and wants them to have the best opportunities and resources, which is another reason I am so glad I chose WKU.
As an International Affairs major, I love the international reach that WKU offers. My third week on campus I was able to meet with a former diplomat to the Middle East and the current Coordinator for Strategic Counterterrorism who was in Bowling Green to talk about career opportunities and his past experiences. I would have never had that opportunity if I had gone somewhere else.
WKU has already welcomed me and become a second home for me and I am so happy with my decision. As you embark on this journey of choosing a college I hope you would find that WKU is a great fit for you. There truly is something special about this campus and the people on it and I can’t wait for my next four years here. Go Tops!
