Bowling Green, KY- Western Kentucky University School of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport student, Gabrielle Ringenberg, has been selected as a 2016 recipient of the William N. Wasson Student Leadership and Academic Award from the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association.
Gabrielle was recognized at the student business meeting during the NIRSA Annual Conference and Expo February 21-24, 2017 in National Harbor, Maryland (Washington D.C.).
Gabrielle, a senior from Louisville, Kentucky, works for WKU’s Department of Intramural-Recreational Sports in their Health and Fitness Lab responsible for providing exercise prescriptions and testing for patrons. She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Pre-Physical Therapy.
The William N. Wasson Student Leadership and Scholarship Award recognizes students who are outstanding leaders on their campuses and who participate or are employed by their institution’s intramural-recreational sports department.
Since 2006, eleven undergraduate students and five graduate students at WKU have received the Wasson Award which is the highest award the NIRSA presents to students recognizing their outstanding leadership and scholarship accomplishments. Only 12 graduate students and 24 undergraduate students throughout the country are recognized by the NIRSA each year.
