BOWLING GREEN, Ky— Dr. Evie Oregon, Assistant Professor in the School of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport in the College of Health & Human Services at Western Kentucky University, recently completed the Online Learning Consortium’s (OLC) Online Teaching Certificate, specializing in the Online Instructional Design Mastery Series concentration.
The OLC is the leading professional organization devoted to advancing quality online learning by providing professional development, instruction, best practice publications and guidance to educators, online learning professionals and organizations around the world. “OLC is the leader in professional development for online instructional design,” stated Oregon.
Oregon is the program coordinator for the Master of Science in Recreation and Sport Administration (RSA) with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration (IAA). “The material I learned will really enable me to design courses based on resent research and best practices, and also made me aware of some of some gaps in the literature that I look forward to collaborating with my peers on further exploration and expansion.”
“Online and distance learning is a wonderful opportunity for WKU faculty to engage with students in new and exciting ways, and WKU’s distance learning unit provides a great deal of professional development opportunities to support faculty efforts,” said Julie Uranis, Director of Distance Learning and Continuing and Professional Development with WKU’s Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO). “We are delighted when faculty complete other programs, such as the Online Learning Consortium’s Online Teaching Certificate, as it is one of many that WKU recognizes as supporting the delivery of quality online instruction skills.”
