What is Financial Aid 101?

This is an organizational site created by the WKU Student Financial Assistance Department. It is designed to educate WKU students about financial aid. The site contains various learning modules that contain pertinent student financial aid information such as instructions on how to apply for federal financial aid, explanations on the different types of federal aid that students might be eligible to receive (i.e., grants, unsubsidized loans, etc.), and definitions of key concepts and terminology.


Why should I consider enrolling into Financial Aid 101?

Do you have questions about how to apply for federal financial aid? Or, are wondering what it means to be selected for Verification? This site contains learning modules that will help students to learn more about how to obtain and maintain their federal financial aid. Federal financial aid is money provided by the government in order to help parents/students pay for certain college expenses.


Who can enroll into Financial Aid 101?

Financial Aid 101 is available to any current WKU faculty, staff, or student.


How can I access Financial Aid 101?

The first step to accessing this content is to be sure you are logged into your BLACKBOARD account. From there participants can self-enroll by clicking on the following url link:   You will then be redirected to a Self Enrollment site on Blackboard. Click SubmitThis will allow you to register for Financial Aid 101.

In order to access Financial Aid 101, login to Blackboard. Next, select the tab titled My Organizations. The Financial Aid 101 link will be available on this webpage.

7 charter members to be inducted into WKU chapter of SALUTE, national honor society for student veterans

History will be made on Nov. 29 when WKU will get its first chapter of SALUTE, a national honor society for student veterans. Seven charter members will be inducted into SALUTE at 5 p.m. in the Veterans Resource Center, 410 Tate Page Hall.

3 GIS alumni assist in post-hurricane recovery in Puerto Rico

Three alumni from WKU’s Department of Geography and Geology who work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have been assigned to Puerto Rico to assist in post-hurricane recovery efforts.

Department Will Be Closed

The Department of Student Financial Assistance will be closed from Wednesday, Nov. 22nd through Friday, Nov. 25th. The office will reopen on Monday, Nov. 27th.
