SC AHEC funds New Microscopes for Monroe County Schools

Tompkinsville, KY – May 28, 2015 – Monroe County Middle School and Monroe County High School are home to new microscopes and slides thanks to the South Central Area Health Education Center (SC AHEC) at WKU. SC AHEC funded the purchase of new microscopes to meet the schools’ needs.

The schools will use the microscopes to promote health careers. The microscopes will replace the schools’ current microscopes which are over 25 years old and falling apart. When high school science teacher, Donna Dyer, was asked about the new microscopes, she stated, “These new microscopes will be used in Biology and Anatomy classes to enhance the education of our almost 600 students at Monroe County High School.  I cannot express to you in words how much this new equipment will mean to the education of our students for many years to come!”

The SC AHEC is dedicated to promoting health careers to students of all ages. They are actively looking for schools and organizations to partner with for the 2015-2016 academic year. If your school is interested in partnering with SC AHEC to promote health careers in your classroom, please contact Catherine Malin.
