WKU’s Educational Leadership Doctoral (Ed.D.) Program now offers a specialization in Organizational Leadership ONLINE, creating a more flexible option for working professionals ready to enhance their leadership roles within education-related organizations and non-profits not classified as schools, colleges, or universities.
Dr. Tony Norman is the director of the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program at WKU.
“The idea of pursuing a doctoral degree can be overwhelming – especially those who work full-time and have families or other responsibilities,” said Dr. Norman.
“By offering this program online, we can provide our students with the flexibility to create a schedule that fits their busy lifestyle.”
Graduates from this program are prepared for a variety of leadership positions within public and private organizations, including policymakers, professional development directors, nurse executives and leadership roles within ministries of education or state boards of education. Coursework and learning experiences within this specialization place a strong emphasis on field experiences within these types of organizations.
Students follow a cohort model, so they progress through the program as a group. As with the face-to-face Ed.D. program, courses are taught by highly qualified faculty and students are encouraged to network with colleagues enrolled in the program.
The transfer-friendly, 60-credit hour program includes two weeklong summer experiences where students engage with nationally-recognized guest speakers and connect with faculty and other students in the program. Tuition for the program is equal to the graduate resident tuition rate, and there are no additional program fees. Students can begin the program in spring 2019 and should apply soon.
WKU Online is a unit of the Division of Extended Learning & Outreach (DELO).
