WKU Statesmanship Academy Opens Applications for Inaugural Class

The Western Kentucky University Department of Political Science is excited to announce that applications are now open for the inaugural class of the WKU Statesmanship Academy for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The WKU Statesmanship Academy is a leadership and civic engagement program designed to encourage civic participation and foster a deeper understanding of government at all levels. Through engaging programming and community-based sessions, the Academy connects students with public service leaders and real-world leadership experiences.
Who Can Apply?
High school seniors from Warren County public and private schools, as well as the homeschool community, are invited to apply.
What’s the Goal?
The program aims to inspire young students to become active, informed participants in civic life, while promoting a greater appreciation for how local, state, and federal government systems work.
Program Highlights:
✔️ Six sessions held throughout the school year
✔️ Topics include Local Government, State Government, Law & Judicial System, Economic Development & Tourism, Education & Healthcare, and Federal Government
✔️ Meetings hosted on WKU’s campus and at partner locations around the community
✔️ Light breakfast provided at each session
✔️ Certificate of completion awarded at a year-end reception
