CHHS Communication Sciences and Disorders Student is a Finalist for National Scholarship

Kennedy McAlpin, a junior from Somerset, KY majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Health and Human Services, is a finalist for The Jan Egerton & Don Smitley Mesothelioma Scholarship promoting awareness about the dangers of asbestos and mesothelioma. Her essay was chosen as one of the top four finalists for the national scholarship.

Each citation and mention of her essay also counts as a vote. Readers can vote for her essay, Miracle Material—Deadly Diagnosis, through Nov. 27.
Kennedy hopes that through her research and work, she "will be able to improve the lives of people with cancer and improve their ability to breathe, swallow, and speak."
