Wind Ensemble
The Western Kentucky University Wind Ensemble is the premier concert ensemble on the WKU campus. The Wind Ensemble has performed at the Kentucky Music Educators Convention in 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2012, 2016, 2020, and the College Band Directors National Association Southern Division Convention in 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2016. The Wind Ensemble traveled to Russia in 2005 to participate in the 60th annual "Victory Day" celebration, and also to Costa Rica in 2011 for a twelve-day study abroad and service learning/performance tour. The Wind Ensemble rehearses on Monday, Wednesday from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. during the spring semester and performs two on campus concerts as well as select tour and conference performances. Membership in the Wind Ensemble is determined by competitive audition. For more information about the Wind Ensemble contact Dr. Gary Schallert.
