When it comes to world language study, WKU students have many choices! The department offers major/minor programs in Arabic, Chinese, French, German and Spanish. Students can take two years of Japanese and two years of Russian. Russian language study can lead to the Minor is Russian and East European Studies.
The Arabic Program in the Department of Modern Languages is the first major/minor program in Arabic language and culture in the state of Kentucky. Started in early 2014, it is growing swiftly. Spanish majors and minors can take a supporting minor in Latin American Area Studies. Besides studies in language, literature, and culture, courses are available in the geography, history, government, and economics of the Americas. More information.
