Why is it important to learn Chinese?

● Chinese is the modern language with the oldest, continuously written language in the world.

● At the current pace of growth, China will surpass the U.S. to become the world's largest economy in 20 years

● A variety of career options will be open to those who have solid Chinese language skills: university scholars, teachers, international affairs, law, diplomacy, international business and trade.

Dr. Ke Peng. Assistant Professor of Chinese.
Dr. Peng earned her Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Arizona with a major in East Asian Studies and a minor in linguistics. She holds a Master of Science degree in Foreign Language Education from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Yifang Zhang. Instructor of Chinese.
Ms. Zhang is a volunteer teacher in the Han Ban Program in China. Ms. Zhang is a Ph.D. candidate in Teaching Chinese As a Second Language from the Northeast Normal University, China.
