WKU offices in Bowling Green will open at 10 a.m. Friday. Classes Friday remain canceled and campuses in Glasgow, Owensboro and Elizabethtown/Ft. Knox remain closed Friday. Saturday classes in Bowling Green will proceed as scheduled. Mathematics and Statistics Degree Program Options

Please use iCAP within TopNet to verify your remaining degree requirements for the program of your catalog year.  The various options that are available to students are listed below.

Option 1(a) – 728 General Major in Mathematics

Basic major for employment in mathematical careers that do not require teacher certification.  Appropriate for students majoring in complementary disciplines wanting a double-major in mathematics.

Option 1(b) – 528 Extended Major in Mathematics

Recommended for students wanting to pursue a graduate degree in mathematics.

Option 2 – 728 Teacher Certifiable (Secondary) Major in Mathematics

Basic major for teacher certification in mathematics at the high-school level.

Option 3 – 730 Teacher Certifiable (Middle School) Major in Mathematics

Basic major for teacher certification in mathematics at the middle-school level.

Option 4 – 731 Mathematical Economics

Extended major for students wanting a career in data-driven analytical economics (general track) or as an actuary (actuarial track).

Minors

For students in a complementary major that requires a minor.

Certificates

Provides specific training in using SAS®, either for current students or people in the workforce.

 

All degree-seeking students are required to consult with their advisor to have the advising hold lifted prior to registration.  The academic advisor assists the student in the selection of courses that will provide appropriate preparation for his/her career objectives, and assure timely completion of degree program requirements.
