313 Minor in Applied Statistics

A minor in Applied Statistics (Ref. #313) requires a minimum of 19 semester hours.  This program is designed for a student seeking a career as a statistical programmer / analyst / consultant in a knowledge-based industry or in a research institution.

The requirements are as follows:

  1. MATH 136 or MATH 142 (4 or 5 hrs)
  2. STAT 301, STAT 330, and STAT 401 (9 hrs)
  3. At least 6 credit hours from the following:
    • Any 300-level or 400-level STAT course other than 301, 330, and 401;
    • MATH 382, 482, or 470;
    • At most 3 credit hours of 300-400 level statistical coursework relevant to the student's area of study (with prior approval from the Statistics Education Committee of the Department of Mathematics)

Dr. Tom Richmond Elected to the Mathematical Association of America Congress

Dr. Tom Richmond has been elected to the MAA Congress for a three-year term as the representative of the Kentucky MAA section.

Dr. Molly Dunkum named a CPE Faculty Collaborative Fellow

Dr. Molly Dunkum was named one of two Faculty Collaborative Fellow by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. The award is for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years, and carries its own honorarium and travel funds.

2015 Math Symposium Dates Announced

The 35th Annual Mathematics Symposium will be held November 13th and 14th in Snell Hall on WKU's main campus. This year's keynote speaker is Professor Henry Segerman of Oklahoma State University. Students are encouraged to submit abstracts.
