WKU Continuing & Professional Development can provide classroom training for your group on a variety of software applications. The courses listed below have been selected to provide a foundation in the most-often used Microsoft Office applications as part of our Introduction to Microsoft Office® Certificate program.

  • Participants will receive reference materials, exercises, and examples to help them remember and use what they have learned when they return to work.

  • Classes are available individually or as part of the certificate series.

  • Laptop computers and other equipment is provided.  

 

Courses:

Basic Excel  (4 Hour Course)
This course provides the straightforward foundation needed to utilize a spreadsheet for business applications. Students will design several spreadsheets both in and out of class to solve specific business problems.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn to enter data and command usage
  • Learn to create, save and print worksheets
 

Basic Word  (4 Hour Course)
This course will help participants understand how to create documents, edit and manipulate text, reformat documents, save, print and more.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand word processing basics
  • Demonstrate successful text entry, file saving and retrieving
 

Basic PowerPoint  (4 Hour Course)
Participants will create, print, and save a short presentation while learning how to use the program. Tips for effective presentation design are included.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the basic process of creating a slideshow
  • Identify and define the function of the menu bar, scroll bar, title bars and the application control menu
