WKU Libraries Quick Turn-Around Grants

WKU Libraries Quick Turn-Around Grants (QTAGS)
(WKU Libraries Full-Time Faculty Only)

WKU Libraries Quick Turn-Around Grants (QTAGs) are small grants in the amount of up to $1,000 for research and creative activity, funded by Facilities & Administrative costs accrued through the external grant process. These funds are provided to support critical and immediate needs, and are intended to be spent within three months of being awarded.

QTags are meant for future, quickly forthcoming opportunities to disseminate research or continue or conduct a research project, not as reimbursements for presentations or other events that are professional development in nature (like conference travel where you may present but it is not an outcome of your research). So if you are engaged in research and need assistance to further its progress, or you have completed research that results in your being invited to discuss it in some forum, QTags are intended to fill gaps between RCAPS for projects that come up fairly quickly.

Application Deadlines:

QTAG funds must be spent within three months of the date they are awarded. However, this requirement will be met if tickets for travel or conference registration are purchased within the three-month period.

Who is Eligible to Apply for a QTAG?

  • All full-time faculty in WKU Libraries are eligible for a QTAG grant.
  • Faculty may only receive one QTAG award per academic year. Unsuccessful applications may be revised and resubmitted for a subsequent funding cycle.

Eligible Expenses:

  • Travel to conduct research at another library or archive.
  • Travel, shipping, or other expenses to conduct research & creative activity.
  • Expenses related to an exhibit.
  • Purchase of lab supplies to further existing research.
  • Costs associated with mailed survey materials.
  • Supporting research assistants.
  • Costs related to the dissemination of research/creative activity.

Remember that this is about funding your research, or the dissemination of your research, not professional development.

Please complete all the boxes below.  For presentations, please state the event/conference at which that you will be presenting, along with information about how that relates to your research agenda.

If you presented research at a conference, please send a copy of your conference program, website, or letter from the conference Program Chair when you return to Andrew Adler. This information is needed for the final report.

If the project involves human subjects, animal subjects, export control issues, rDNA/RGZ microbe, or bio-hazards, appropriate institutional approval(s) must be obtained before the project begins and funds are spent. Contact the Office of Research Integrity for further information or visit https://www.wku.edu/compliance/.
