WKU Libraries eBooks

WKU Libraries has subscribed to a large collection of ebooks. While searchable from our One-Search Box, most of the ebooks can be found from the following highlighted databases:

  • ACLS Humanities E-Books

    An online collection of over 3,300 books in the humanities, these titles are offered by the ACLS in collaboration with twenty learned societies, over 100 contributing publishers, and librarians at the University of Michigan's Scholarly Publishing Office.
  • American National Biography Online

    It offers portraits of more than 18,700 men and women from all eras and walks of life. It's the first biographical resource of this scope to be published in more than sixty years.
  • Grolier Online Encyclopedias

    Grolier Online, part of the database offerings in the Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL), provides access to the Encyclopedia Americana, the Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, the New Book of Knowledge, and Amazing Animals of the World.
  • Oxford Reference Premium Online

    Oxford Reference Online Premium contains nearly 200 full-text language and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press. The electronic books may be searched individually or together. The collection includes English-language and bilingual dictionaries, as well as subject encyclopedias and dictionaries in a wide range of subject areas. Access is restricted to a total of one simultaneous user. Please use the "LOG OUT" link at the top of the page to exit the Oxford Reference Online.
  • Reference Sources in History: An Introductory Guide

    This eBook collection derives from a pool of over 6,000 encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, and guides from ABC-CLIO, Greenwood Press, Libraries Unlimited, and Praeger.
  • Sage Reference Online

    SAGE Reference Online is a database of 47 reference books published by SAGE covering the social sciences and education, including such areas as African American Studies, Aged & Gerontology, Anthropology, Communication and Media Studies, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Economics, Education, Gender & Sexuality Studies, History, Politics, Psychology, Social Issues, Social Work & Social Policy, and Sociology. WKU currently has access to encyclopedias from 2002-2009 online.
