World War I (July 1914- November 1918) was a devistaitng global conflict that involved many of the world's leading powers. This exhibit highlights the lives of several Kentucky soldiers and their contributions to the war effort. We are able to follow these soldiers through correspondence and photos held in our collections. In addition, we highlight the home front and how civilians on U.S soil, particularly Kentucky, aided the troops. The Great War resulted in millions of casualties; this exhibit attempts to honor their memory and celebrate their lives. For more information please visit wku.edu/library/

Afia Nathaniel made her feature film debut with this film about the clash between a mother’s love and her duty to her family. When she learns her young daughter is to be married to the leader of another clan to settle a dispute, the mother takes her daughter and flees. Filmed in the mountains of northern Pakistan, the stunning visuals match the poignancy of the story as it unfolds.
