How Does it Work

          • Eligible students must be admitted and enrolled at WKU or enrolled with a partner community college and jointly admitted through WKU's Joint Admission Partnership.
          • Students must be 18 years of age minimum and must maintain required GPA for the semester.
          • Students must successfully complete an application, be proven eligible and then pass an Online Interview Assessment.
          • Approved candidates must then complete a required Learn and Earn Orientation session.
          • Learn and Earn participants then move on to complete required Soft Skills training modules.
          • After training is complete, successful candidates are then placed into Learn and Earn's workforce "pool."
          • As jobs arise, students are matched with a potential employer who then screens/interviews the candidate.
          • Should the candidate be hired, the business and student enter into a mutual employment agreement for the semester that includes a pre-determined hourly salary.
          • Should the candidate not be hired, Learn and Earn staff receive feedback from employer and coach student in needed skills; afterward, the candidate then returns to the "pool."
          • All students will meet regularly with Learn and Earn staff for monitoring, feedback and coaching.
          • Should all requirements be met, at the end of semester, the hired student receives a tuition scholarship from employer.
          • Participation in the Learn and Earn does not guarantee a student employment or a scholarship.
