Kentucky High School Media Institute
A component of the 21st Century Media Program of Distinction at Western Kentucky University, the Kentucky High School Media Institute is funded by Kentucky's Council on Post-Secondary Education Regional Excellence Trust Fund. The Institute's primary goal is to support and supplement scholastic journalism endeavors in Kentucky.

2015 Journalism Scholars Day Conference
Journalism Scholars Day, a 43-year tradition at WKU, attracts hundreds of Kentucky high school journalism students along with media advisers from schools across the state to campus. The 2015 event was conducted on Friday, Nov. 20, at Mass Media and Technology Hall.
The three-hour conference includes a scholarship writing contest and the Mark of Excellence yearbook awards ceremony as well as breakout sessions with topics ranging from design and photography to feature writing and the future of radio taught by WKU faculty and students.

2015 Mark of Excellence Contest
WKU's Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the SJ&B sponsored its annual Mark of Excellence Newspaper, Broadcasting and Online awards ceremony on Friday, March 27, in WKU's Mass Media & Technology Hall auditorium. The 2016 event date will be announced at a later date.
