Mark of Excellence Awards


High school journalists play an important role in their communities.  From developing important skills to tackling controversial issues, the annual Mark of Excellence Competition recognizes budding journalists for their talent and hard work. The annual Kentucky Mark of Excellence Competition, sponsored by the Western Kentucky University Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, rewards the outstanding efforts of high school journalists throughout the state. 

The awards ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. (CDT) on Friday, March 1, at Western Kentucky University, with an info fair stareting at 9:30 a.m.. A keynote speaker will also speak on a topic of interest to journalism students. More detailed information will be sent to registered schools before the event. Please RSVP for the ceremony using the form below. Schools that RSVP by Thursday, Feb. 21, will receive a parking pass in the mail before the event. If you RSVP after that date, you will need to pick up a pass the morning of the event and return it to your vehicle.
