WKU STUDENT PR TEAMS WIN PARTHENON AWARDS

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (April 29, 2016) – Eight 2015 public relations graduates from Western Kentucky University’s School of Journalism & Broadcasting won Parthenon Awards for excellence in nonprofit public relations campaigns at the 30th annual PRSA Nashville Parthenon Awards on Thursday.
Two teams of WKU PRSSA members received awards in the student category with awareness campaigns conducted in the 2015 PR capstone class. This is the fourth consecutive year for WKU PR majors to earn a Parthenon Award.
Team Operation: Owning the Dream and WKU’s Home Team developed public relations awareness campaigns for the national nonprofit Home Matters® . Both teams reached out to the WKU campus community as well as Bowling Green residents by partnering with local organizations with similar missions as Home Matters® .
Team Operation: Owning the Dream included Catherine Havel of Louisville, Ashlee Manley and Alyson Manley, both of Morganfield, and James Blake Soper of Mount Sterling.
WKU's Home Team included Alyssa Born of Paducah, Laura Harper and Derek Higdon, both of Louisville, and Katie Jaggers of Crestwood.
