International Year Of...

KENYA 2020-2021

IYO Revisited, 2019-2020

The IYO revisited is a gap year that will enable WKU faculty to spend time delving deeper into connections that were made with a previous country and/or exploring new opportunities that have presented themselves since a past IYO. In this way, WKU will sustain and expand its exploration of past IYO countries, providing an opportunity for more extensive study and the forming of deeper relationships with the scholarship from each region. Students will now have the chance to make connections between even more countries during their time at WKU. The interim year will create space for students to identify and study the relationships between target countries that their faculty have been able to study since the IYO's inception since 2014.

Goals

  • Facilitate continued exploration of past IYO countries by utilizing established connections and deepening WKU's existing partnerships.
  • Prompt new study of past IYO countries by providing the space for innovative programs and events that initiate new connections with each target country.
  • Provide students with the opportunity to develop global competencies by studying the relationships between multiple past IYO countries over the course of a single year.
