Hakam

Joel Imoukhuede Omage is from Edo State, Nigeria. Joel is a first-generation college student and earned his first degree in biochemistry from the University of Benin in 2015. He is currently a chemistry graduate student at WKU. Prior to attending WKU, Joel taught chemistry at a high school in Nigeria. In this role, he developed interpersonal, social and leadership skills and realized a passion for working with students. Joel decided to study at WKU after finding that it was ranked #3 among graduate institutions as a top producer of Fulbright scholars. In his free time, Joel enjoys watching and playing soccer, as well as hanging out with friends. His favorite part of WKU is the beautiful campus and new building, Ogden College Hall, with the latest high-tech facilities in Chemistry.

“As an International Student Diplomat my goal is to assist international students with the process to study in the U.S. and help them with smooth transition to American academic life. I will also seek to investigate and help to provide solutions to challenges confronting international students.” After graduation Joel intends to go to medical school and contribute as much as possible to help humanity in healthcare.
