In order to apply for general admission to WKU as an international student, you will need:

Be Admitted to WKU by May 1st

After receiving the admission letter from WKU by May 1st, we will automatically evaluate your transcripts to calculate your grade point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale. Students with a GPA between 3.00-3.49 will be eligible for an $8,000 scholarship. Those with GPAs higher than 3.49 will be eligible for the $13,000 scholarship.

Participate in Pathways Program

Scholarship recipients will complete the WKU Pathways program. This occurs during the 1st-2nd semester of the students first year. It accompanies your curriculum to give you a personalized experience, assist with English-language acquisition, and introduce you to life on an American campus. The Pathways program does not delay your graduation but is committed to ensuring your success at WKU and beyond.

Scholarship Overview

GPA of 3.00-3.49

  • University shall cover USD $8,000 of the total tuition costs each year of the program of study

GPA of 3.50 or higher

  • University shall cover USD $13,000 of the total tuition costs each year of the program of study

The University's admissions deadline:

  • Fall 2020: June 1, 2020

Scholarship application deadline:

  • Fall 2020: admitted by May 1st

Undergraduate Admissions Requirements

Bachelors Degree (After High School)

  • A completed application (open WKU application for admission)
  • Minimum academic requirements: Freshmen: 2.5 GPA / Transfer:* 2.0 GPA
    • *Students with 24 or more earned hours of college credit
  • English proficiency requirements (one of the following):
    • TOEFL, IBT – 71
    • IELTS – 6.0
    • SAT Critical Reading – 450
    • SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing – 460
    • ELS – Level 109 PTE Academic – 52
    • DuoLingo - 100 DET for one-semester Pathway program; 90 DET for two-semester Pathway program
    • $75 non-refundable application fee
  • Official Academic Records from schools attended with grades and any degrees/diplomas/certificates received.  Should also include a literal English translation.
  • Financial Evidence of Support must be provided to obtain an I-20
  • Students transferring from within the US will need to fill out the Transfer-In Form

All necessary documents, including academic records, and proof of English language proficiency, must be received before an admission decision can be made.

Graduate Admissions Requirements

Masters Degree/PHD (After Bachelors Degree)

  • A completed application HERE
  • Official transcripts demonstrating completion of bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university & certified English translation
  • Any additional program requirements (writing samples, resume/vita, etc.)
  • GRE/GMAT scores, if required by program
  • Adequate academic preparation in the field of specialization
  • English proficiency requirements (one of the following):
    • TOEFL, IBT – 79
    • IELTS – 6.5
    • ELS - Level 112
  • $95 non-refundable application fee
  • Financial Evidence of Support must be provided to obtain an I-20
  • Students transferring from within the US will need to fill out the Transfer-In Form
