WKU Apartments Remain Open With Option to Move Out
With the decision by WKU to hold only online classes for the remainder of spring semester, the decision has been made that the KY Street Apartments will remain open, and will transition to limited operations and staffing until further notice.
All apartment residents need to report their plans to stay, leave temporarily, or move out:
Staff availability, including Apartment Community Assistants, will be limited and only available by phone. The WKU Apartments front desk will not be in operation beginning Monday, March 23. If you have a current package that is waiting to be picked up, please do so by Friday, March 20 at 3pm. We will provide more information about package delivery soon.
If you plan to stay:
Per your lease, June rent will be assessed.
Community spaces, including the gym and theater space, will be closed.
Keep practicing social distancing and it is expected that you refrain from bringing in outside visitors to help prevent the spread of germs.
For emergency situations, we will provide staff on-call information posted on each floor.
No other persons are permitted to live with you. Refer to your lease on “Use of Apartment”
Move-out for June will be addressed at a later time as more information is known.
Due to the importance of social distancing and the severity of COVID-19, there are several continued changes to apartment guidelines and policies. By choosing to remain in your apartment, you understand that if you have been identified by a healthcare professional as a Person under Investigation (PUI) for COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19, stay in your room and away from people and follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protective actions found at : https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/sick-with-2019-nCoV-fact-sheet.pdf. Notify WKU Emergency Management at (270) 745-2019 to initiate the reporting process. dditionally, WKU will not provide you other space for an isolated living environment if asked to self-quarantine. You will have to do so in your apartment.
If you would like to move out:
You may do so and will not be charged for breaking your lease.
You will be required to move out by March 31.
If you paid your rent upfront, A prorated credit for spring 2020 housing will be applied to student accounts in fall 2020. Students must officially check out by March 31st to receive the credit. The credit may be applied to housing, tuition, books, and supplies for fall 2020. Students who are graduating at the end of the spring semester who officially complete the checkout process by March 31st will receive a prorated credit that will be applied to their Spring 2020 account.
Express checkout envelopes will be available at the front desk beginning Friday morning (March 20). There will be no in-person checkouts available. Rooms will be inspected once all residents have moved out, and only major damages will be charged.
