Biography

Hi there! I'm Sarah. A few years ago, I was in your shoes. My junior and senior years of high school were two of the most special years of my life. They were a time of fun and uncertainty....exploring college campuses, writing application essays, and soaking up time with classmates. If you are feeling overwhelmed, nervous, excited, or a mixture of all of these, you are certainly not alone. I went back and forth on my college decision until late Spring of my senior year. Entering my senior year of college, I can say that the past three years have shaped me into the person I am today. They have allowed me to pursue a career I’ve grown to love, led me to lifelong friends, and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I am excited for you and all the memories you will make. Please know that I want to help make this time as easy as possible and answer any questions you may have, so feel free to email me whenever. I am grateful for the college upperclassmen who offered me advice, and I would love to pass on what I’ve learned from them and my own experiences.

I’d like to share a little bit about myself in case you have any questions related to programs I am involved in. I am a Communication Disorders major with a minor in American Sign Language. I hope to work in a children’s hospital as a speech-language pathologist. My honors retreat (H4) counselor Hannah encouraged me to get involved during my freshman year. She was right when she said that I would find “my people” because of it. At WKU, I am involved in HonorsToppers, Best Buddies, the National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association, a mentoring program through the Clinical Education Complex, and Christian Student Fellowship. These organizations have played critical roles in making WKU my home away from home. I am from Northern Kentucky and my hometown is about three hours from campus, so a sense of belonging through these groups has helped ease initial homesickness.

I am so excited to meet you and hear about your story! Please contact me if you have any questions or simply want to say hi!

See you on the Hill!
