Hey! I’m Grant Patterson! I’m going to be a sophomore this year. I’m happy that you’re reading this because that means you’re looking into WKU and the Mahurin Honors College!
My experience at WKU so far has been incredible, and I’ve made so many friends with students and professors that I will cherish for a long time. You better hope that I give your VIP tour, because, well, do I have some stories for you. The community that I have became a part of here at the Mahurin Honors College is like no other, and I can’t wait to tell you about my experience here.
If you’re like many seniors in high school, you’ve probably seen a million brochures sent to you from colleges you probably didn’t even know existed, and that can certainly be overwhelming. My advice to you in your college search is simple. First, don’t just glue your eyes to the majors, programs, and general information about a school, really go to the college and see how it is in person. Go on a weekday during a semester if you can, so you can really see what the campus looks like day to day. When I came to Western for the first time, I was amazed at how fun campus seemed! Second, don’t just look at the school, explore the surrounding town. I mean, you’re probably going to be there for several years, and you don’t want to spend ALL your time on campus, so drive around and see what Bowling Green has to offer. Finally, ask questions! Don’t be shy. Send an email to me or another Honors Topper. We will give you real answers to your questions about anything. I mean, we live here and study here, so if anyone knows the answer to that random question, there’s a good chance it’s us.
I’m glad you’re looking into Western, and I can tell you that it won’t disappoint.
