Alex Hezik Spotlight
Introducing Alex Hezik (MHC ‘17), our new CE/T advisor for the Mahurin Honors College!
In her time at WKU, Alex participated in the Chinese Flagship program, studied abroad
nine times, and was involved with the Office of Sustainability and SGA.
Alex completed her CE/T project in the spring of 2016. She constructed an edible landscape
for the Office of Sustainability's front lawn containing plants with only a food or
medicinal purpose. Her capstone was completed for her major in Honors Self-Design
Studies for Sustainable Agriculture.
After graduating, Alex completed a Fulbright Scholarship in Taiwan in 2017-2018 for
research in sustainable agriculture.
Alex is incredibly thankful for the resources and advisement she received from the
Mahurin Honors College. From the Chinese Flagship program to study abroad opportunities
and OSD, Alex felt supported throughout her whole journey at WKU. She has returned
to WKU as an advisor for Capstone Experience/Thesis projects to help guide and support
students through what can seem like a daunting process.
Her advice to students in their CE/T journey is to take inventory of their interests
and to not concern themselves heavily with details. Once you find something you are
passionate about, the technical aspects of the project will become much more manageable!
If you need any help with the CE/T process, visit Alex in office 1036 in the Mahurin
Honors College suite or email her at cet.advisor@wku.edu. We’re so excited to have you Alex and can't wait to see how your work benefits our
students!
