Kentucky Honors Roundtable
What is KHR?
Kentucky Honors Roundtable (KHR) is an association of honors programs and colleges from across the Commonwealth. KHR hosts conferences that provide honors scholars with an opportunity to present scholarly and creative work and build community and professional networks. KHR also serves as a venue for Kentucky's honors directors, deans, administrators and faculty to share ideas about best practices.
What does this year’s KHR have to offer?
- Keynote address: Join students across the Commonwealth to hear poet and essayist Ross Gay, author of Be Holding (2020), the New York Times-bestselling The Book of Delights (2019), and the National Book Critics Circle Award-winning Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude (2015).
Tuesday, February 23, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
- Social Event: This year’s social event features virtual escape rooms (designed by MHC’s very own
Langley Williams) and, afterwards, the winner(s) of the 2021 KHR Tik Tok Challenge
will be announced.
Friday, February 26, 2021
- Presentations: Saturday will feature a full day of panel presentations, poster presentations, and
creative performances, delivered synchronously over Microsoft Teams.
Saturday, February 27, 2021
- Tik TokChallenge: Really? Yes! KHR challenges each University to make a Tik Tok video celebrating its distinctive awesomeness. We’ll screen those videos at our Friday evening event, vote on the winner, and award the winning college a (probably) hilarious but nonetheless impressive trophy signifying its achievement that can then be displayed prominently somewhere on campus. Ask Professor Susann Davis, WKU’s designated KHR coordinator for more details about how you can Tik Tok your way to glory for MHC.
How do I sign up as a presenter?
Students at KHR member institutions are invited to submit proposals for 12-minute oral presentations, poster presentations (consisting of a poster that will be uploaded to our website and a 5-minute “poster tour” delivered synchronously), creative performances, and visual art. KHR requires all submissions to be approved by MHC before they are submitted. To be preapproved, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the memo “KHR Proposal” by Friday, February 12. Then watch for an approval email so that you can register by February 15th. Acceptances will be sent out from KHR the following Monday, February 22, along with a full schedule and links to the week’s events.
