  • If you are planning a Spring 2013 CE/T defense, the Notification of Intent to Defend form is due no later than Friday, February 1, 2013.

Stop by the Study Abroad Fair on Feb. 6th from 10:00am to 3:00pm in MMTH to learn about various study abroad oppertunities. All students that check in and get their WKU IDs swiped will be entered in a drawing for a study abroad scholarship and other prizes.

HACs are due at the Honors College by February 8, 2013.  Students may propose a HAC to earn upper-division Honors credit (with permission of the instructor and department). Detailed directions and tips for the Augmentation process, as well as the application, are at:  http://www3.wku.edu/honors/forms/augmentation-contract.php  If you are planning on Augmenting a course in the Spring, it is very important that you contact your professor as soon as possible.  You need to begin the process well before the deadline.

The deadline for full application submission for Summer/Fall 2013 study abroad program is March 5, 2013.

We will leave early afternoon from campus. Conference registration is from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and will be followed by a buffet dinner.  Afterward, there will be a dessert bar in the Cat’s Den in UK’s Student Center prepared for the attendees. Also, in the Cat’s Den, you will be able to participate in the KHR trivia contest (with prizes), play video games, ping pong, or pool.  Additional Friday night entertainment options include “Night on Broadway”, a vocal event put-on by the Choristers, UK’s 80-person mixed-voice choir, or world-renowned soprano opera singer Christine Brewer performing at the Singletary Center for the Arts.  Each of these events will require that you purchase tickets separately. Information for “Night on Broadway” has not yet been posted on the School of Music’s website, but they anticipate tickets sales to begin in January.

On Saturday morning registration and breakfast will begin at 8:00 to 9:00 am.  Presentation and poster sessions will follow with lunch at 12:15pm.  The conference will conclude with the usual student and faculty meetings. The event should wrap-up by 3:45pm.

This week is dedicated to students that have engaged in research and scholarly activities at WKU. A series of showcases will be taking place across campus during the week with the Student Research Conference wrapping up the week's activities on March 23, 2013. 

The deadline for REACH Week proposals is February 15, 2013. More details about Reach Week can be found at http://www.wku.edu/research/celebrate.php.

Posters-at-the-Capital is designed to celebrate the research, scholarly, and creative experiences of undergraduate students at Kentucky’s public institutions of higher education. It provides students with the opportunity to present their projects to state legislators and to impress upon them the importance of faculty-mentored projects to the overall education of Kentucky students. Poster presentations are being sought from undergraduates in ALL DISCIPLINARY AREAS.

Honors Development Grant (HDG):  HDGs provide students up to $500 for expenses directly associated with Honors courses and research, including presenting research at conferences and Capstone Experience/Thesis (CE/T) projects.  There are two deadlines in the Fall to apply for an HDG:  January 28 and February 25, 2013.  Detailed directions and advice for submitting an HDG and the application form can be found at:  http://www3.wku.edu/honors/forms/honors-development-grant.php
