Biography

Susann Davis has taught beginning and intermediate Spanish at Western Kentucky University since 1999. She has won the Potter College award for Excellence in Advising and the university-wide Award for Excellence in Teaching. She served on the Kentucky World Language Association’s executive board from 2005-2012, including two years as president. From January 2016-December 2018 she served on the ACTFL Board of Directors and the ACTFL Convention Committee. She has co-led and/or taught four study abroad programs, has directed two immersion programs for teachers, has lobbied for language education both in Frankfort and Washington, D.C., and has been an active presenter at state, regional and national conferences. Ms. Davis joined the Mahurin Honors College in Summer 2019.

A self-proclaimed “plastic addict”, on weekends she can be spotted at local parks playing disc golf. Her true passion, however, is international travel.  Her personal highlight reel includes pilgrimages along the Camino de Santiago, trekking to Machu Picchu and getting lost while kayaking on a river in Thailand.
