Ticket for "Daily Motions" Show

Teacher’s Guide  -  "Daily Motions" Ticket to the Planetarium

Differences between Day and Night

What You Do:

  1. Take the picture image provided, copy and distribute to students. (Click here to download the PDF file containing the ticket).
  2. Ask students to cut off the bottom part along the solid line, separating the bottom containing the clip art pictures from the windows above.
  3. Point out that the pictures are windows looking out at the sky. The top picture is for what they see in the sky in the day and the bottom is for what they see in the sky at night.
  4. Ask students to fold the paper along the middle dotted line to create a “tent” with day on one side and night on the other. Ask them to open the paper up again to make it easier to attach the pictures.
  5. Ask students to cut out the clip art pictures and then attach them to the appropriate window choosing which should go into the daytime sky picture and which should go into the night sky.
  6. Ask students to fold the paper along the middle dotted line to create a “tent” with day on one side and night on the other.
  7. Have students bring the finished page when the class comes to the Planetarium as their “ticket” to the show.
